Trees

A walk with botanist Mihaela Yordanova

The study area is in the vicinity of the village of Dren, located at the foot of the Vitosha, Verila and Rila mountains. The village is surrounded by fields, pastures, meadows, wooded forest area and an original deciduous forest dominated by beech.

Particularly interesting is the preserved forest vegetation located in the higher parts around the village. We observed groups of old beech trees with a well-represented biome and talked about the role of trees in the cycle of nature.
