Local Clay

The process of extracting clay from the village of Dren and other villages in the area and the process of manually purifying it into a natural local finished product is exemplified by Velika Prahova in collaboration with Monika Kryakova, a professional turner.

The village of Dren is famous for its clay deposits and for the traditional making of clay pots, "mats", from local clay, for baking bread. In addition to household use, clay was also used in the construction of barns and houses.
in the Pernik - Zabliano region there is a deposit of refractory clays. The village of Busintsi is home to the famous "Busin ceramics" with local clay.
There are numerous clay deposits in Bulgaria, and until recently there were mines and factories for the production of ceramic products. In recent years, many of the factories have been closed and sold, and now we import clay from abroad.
